A meditation retreat for those ready to sit with themselves
The 6 Day Meditation & Silence Retreat at Omunity Meditation is a fully silent residential program in Varkala, Kerala. Over six days of noble silence, daily meditation, pranayama, asana, creative workshops, and guided self inquiry, you will step away from the pace of modern life and create the conditions for a genuine meeting with yourself.
The retreat is led by experienced meditation teachers and follows a clear daily structure rooted in the non-dogmatic, multi-tradition philosophy of Omunity Meditation.
Disclaimer: This is not a wellness retreat, a spa experience, or a digital detox holiday. It is a structured learning program where silence is the primary method and every day has a clear schedule.

A meditation learning program to meet yourself
This retreat is part of the Omunity Meditation curriculum in Varkala, Kerala. While shorter and more reflective than the 12 Day Immersion or the 200H Teacher Training, it follows the same educational philosophy: structured practice, non-dogmatic exploration, and silence as a tool for self understanding.
What six days of silence gives you
What you'll walk away with after six days of silence and meditation.
Exposure to a range of meditation and pranayama techniques
Through daily guided sessions, you will practice meditation techniques from multiple traditions, including breath awareness, loving kindness meditation, non-dual awareness, walking meditation, and mantra. You will also practice classical pranayama including Nadi Shodhana, Ujjayi, and Kapalabhati.
Creative clarity through guided art and journaling workshops
Silence has a way of surfacing things that words alone cannot reach. Through daily creative assignments, including reflective journaling, drawing, contemplative writing, and guided observational exercises, you will explore what arises when the mind is given space and a different kind of language.
A deeper relationship with yourself
This retreat is not about leaving your life behind. It is about returning to yourself so that you can meet your life more clearly. You will not leave with answers. You will leave with better questions, a clearer mind, and the beginning of a practice you can sustain.
A direct experience of sustained noble silence
Most people have never spent six consecutive days in silence. This retreat in Varkala, Kerala gives you that experience within a supportive, structured environment. Noble silence is not emptiness. It is the method through which the retreat does its deepest work.
Who this retreat is designed for
This is a silent, structured learning program. Please read through the points below carefully before booking your stay.

You want to step away from the pace of daily life and give yourself six uninterrupted days of silence, meditation, and reflection in a residential setting
You are open to sitting with stillness, even when it becomes uncomfortable
You have some familiarity with meditation or yoga. You do not need to be advanced, but willingness and some prior exposure are important
You are drawn to creative exploration (journaling, drawing, contemplative exercises) as a complement to meditation and silence
You are willing to follow a clear daily structure, including early mornings, device-free periods, and communal noble silence
You are emotionally stable and not currently in acute crisis. This retreat is supportive, but it is not therapy and it is not a substitute for professional care
Daily meditation, pranayama, silence, & creative inquiry
The retreat weaves together meditation, breathwork, movement, silence, and creative exploration. Each element supports the others. The following pillars recur throughout the six days in Varkala, Kerala.
Meditation Techniques & Traditions
Each day includes guided meditation sessions drawing from multiple traditions. The focus is on building consistency, deepening concentration, and giving you direct experience of techniques you may not have encountered before. You are not expected to arrive as an expert. You are expected to show up and practice.
Techniques vary across the six days, covering approaches such as breath awareness, loving kindness, visualisation, and movement-based practices.

Pranayama Techniques & Traditions
Alongside the meditation sessions, you will learn and practice classical pranayama techniques. The approach is hands-on: you practice each technique, learn what it does, and understand when and how to use it in your own routine.
No prior pranayama experience is required. Some prior exposure to breathwork is helpful but not necessary.

Yoga asana for meditation
Daily yoga sessions are designed to prepare the body for meditation and pranayama, not to advance your asana practice. Classes are grounded and functional, drawing from Hatha and restorative approaches, with an emphasis on nervous system regulation and physical ease.

Philosophy of meditation
Each day includes a philosophy session in the format of a satsang: part talk, part open discussion. Topics draw from the traditions that underpin the practices taught during the retreat, including Yoga philosophy, Vedanta, and Buddhist thought.

Creative exploration
One of the less structured parts of the retreat. Creative exploration sessions give you space to process your experience through a different medium, whether that is journaling, drawing, movement, or another form of expression. There is no output expected and no skill required.
This is time set aside for integration and self reflection, away from technique and instruction.

Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a guided practice of deep conscious relaxation. It is done lying down, eyes closed, and typically lasts between 30 and 45 minutes. The practice works at the level of the nervous system, bringing the body into a state of deep rest while keeping awareness alert.
It is one of the more accessible practices in the training and one of the most transferable. Most people can practice it immediately and independently after a single session.

1:1 Guidance
Every day, you will have the opportunity to speak to one of the teachers to ask any question about your practice and experience. They will take the time to guide and consult you in an open and free way, in order to amplify your meditation practice.

Home practice
The final session of the retreat is practical. You will leave with a concrete, realistic home practice plan based on the techniques covered during the six days. The focus is on what you can actually sustain after you return to your regular life, not what sounds ideal in theory.
This includes guidance on how to structure a daily session, which techniques to prioritise, and how to keep the practice alive when motivation fades.

A day in the life at the Omunity 6-day Silence Retreat
This is a sample schedule to sketch an idea of what you can expect a day to look like during this program. It may be susceptible to changes.

Omunity Meditation was founded by a community of yoga and meditation teachers who kept encountering the same gap...
...while many yoga teacher trainings focus heavily on asana, and while traditional ashrams often follow a single method, there was little room for a structured yet non-dogmatic program dedicated to the deeper practices of meditation and pranayama. This training was created to fill that space: a dedicated environment where practitioners can step away from daily distractions, commit to practice within a supportive structure, and explore multiple traditions without being confined to one.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is the 6-Day Retreat suitable for complete beginners?
Some prior exposure to meditation or yoga is important before joining a fully silent retreat. You do not need to be an advanced practitioner, but you should have some familiarity with sitting practice. If you have never meditated before, we recommend starting with a local class or short online practice before applying.
Is the entire retreat in silence?
Yes. Noble silence is held for the full six days. Your teachers will guide sessions and give instructions throughout the day, but participants do not speak to one another outside of specific guided exchanges. You will also be asked to store your phone and other devices for the full duration.
What does noble silence mean in daily practice?
Noble silence means no speaking, no phone use, and minimal eye contact for the duration of the retreat. It is a deliberate practice method, not a restriction. Silence creates the conditions for genuine inner observation, which is the primary work of this retreat. You are not alone in it: you are held within a clear daily structure with experienced teachers present throughout.
How is this retreat different from the 12-Day Meditation Immersion?
The 6-Day Silent Retreat is fully silent throughout and includes creative workshops using journaling, drawing, and contemplative exercises as tools for self-inquiry. The 12-Day Immersion includes six days of silence and six days of interactive classes, with a stronger focus on building a technical meditation and pranayama practice. The retreat is shorter, fully silent, and uses creative practice as a complement to meditation. The immersion is longer, more technically demanding, and structured as a foundation for ongoing practice or teacher training.
Can I continue into the Immersion or Teacher Training after the retreat?
The 6-Day Retreat is a standalone program. It does not count toward the 12-Day Immersion or the 200H Teacher Training. If you want to continue into either of the longer programs after the retreat, you are welcome to apply separately.
Do I receive a certificate after the retreat?
No. The 6-Day Silent Retreat does not include certification of any kind. It is a practice program.
What creative workshops are included?
Daily creative sessions include reflective journaling, observational drawing, contemplative writing, and guided self-inquiry exercises. No artistic experience or skill is required. These workshops use creativity as a method for self-inquiry, not as a skill to develop. They are a tool for exploring what arises when the mind is given space and a different kind of language.
How is this different from a vipassana retreat?
Vipassana retreats, such as those in the Goenka tradition, follow a single meditation method in complete silence for 10 days. This retreat draws from multiple traditions. You will practice breath awareness, loving kindness meditation, non-dual awareness, walking meditation, and mantra, alongside classical pranayama. The approach is broader, shorter, and includes daily creative practice alongside meditation. Teachers are present for guidance throughout the day.
Is this a wellness retreat or a relaxation program?
No. This is a structured silent program with early mornings, a full daily schedule, and complete noble silence throughout. It is designed for practice and inner inquiry, not leisure. If you are looking for a spa, massage, or an unstructured break, this is not the right program.
What is included in the price?
The fee covers six nights of accommodation on the Omunity Meditation campus in Varkala, three vegetarian Sattvic meals daily, all meditation, pranayama, and creative workshop sessions, course materials including a journal and drawing supplies, and daily teacher guidance. Transportation to and from the campus and visa costs are not included.
How much does the 6-Day Silent Retreat cost?
The retreat is priced by accommodation type. A private single room with a shared bathroom and no air conditioning is €600. A twin shared room with a private bathroom and air conditioning optional is €750. A private double room with a private bathroom and air conditioning optional is €900. All prices are all inclusive. A 10% early booking discount is available on all tiers if you book at least 90 days in advance.
What is the refund and cancellation policy?
The €300 deposit is not refundable. If your plans change and you inform us at least 30 days before the retreat start date, your deposit can be transferred to a future retreat date. The remaining balance is due before the program begins.
How do I book my spot?
Fill out the booking form on this page. The form is free and not binding. Once you receive your confirmation, you secure your place by paying the €300 deposit. Your preferred accommodation and dates are confirmed upon receipt of the deposit. The remaining balance is due before the retreat begins.
What should I bring?
Comfortable, modest clothing for yoga and meditation practice. A reusable water bottle. Sunscreen, insect repellent, and a hat for walks in the Kerala sun. Yoga mats, props, and all creative supplies including journals and drawing materials are provided by Omunity Meditation. You will be asked to store your phone and other devices for the full duration of the retreat. A detailed packing list is shared after your booking is confirmed.
What visa do I need to travel to India?
A tourist visa is sufficient. We recommend applying for a 60-day tourist e-Visa, which gives you comfortable time to travel before and after the retreat. A 30-day e-Visa is also valid. When applying, list sightseeing as your purpose of visit. Do not apply for a student visa or mention yoga training. Most European passport holders can apply online at indianvisaonline.gov.in. Apply at least three weeks before your departure date.
